The original
Pledge of Allegiance, written in 1892 by Francis Bellamy, goes like this: "I pledge allegiance to my Flag and the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all." In 1954, as a reacion to McCarthyism, Congress added the words, "under God" to distinquish the US from the evil communists. So, for those individuals that cry it is unpatriotic, un-American, and athiestic to change the pledge, the pledge has already been revised.
